Sling already works with some WD, Google TV, and Netgear devices. This currently works with Roku 3, 2 XS, and 2 XD, and the Streaming Stick, with support announced in the next week for Roku 2, 1, and LT. They’ll need to load the SlingPlayer channel from the Roku Channel Store, and then use a Sling iOS or Android mobile app to initiate the stream and send it to their Roku. Slingbox owners now have the option of using a newer model Roku box as a Sling receiver. The iPad app is $14.99, or a free upgrade for those who already have SlingPlayer for iPad. Viewers can send their Sling stream to an Apple TV for big screen viewing and view relevant sports stats during a game. Split-screen navigation lets viewers watch a video on their iPad while also looking at Facebook and Twitter feeds or browsing for other programming. The redesigned interface helps viewers discover new content by showing programming similar to what the viewer has selected or by showing lists of new or popular programs. Sling Media has upgraded its SlingPlayer software for the Apple iPad to version 3.0, delivering improvements for both first screen and second screen viewing.
